Artisan Miniature Dollhouse Ferd Sobol 1994 Silk Sheraton Neoclassical Sofa & ChairSome of the best dollhouse miniature pieces of furniture have been made with authentic materials like hardwood, tiny detailed grain, brass hardware and luxurious fabrics, scaled to perfection. This outstandingly hard-to-find Sheraton style sofa and matching chair are perfect examples of just that. They are both signed by the late IGMA artisan Ferd Sobol. Everything is in perfect, never displayed condition, making them especially rare. Sobol pieces are highly sought after and rarely come to the secondary market. As always, Ferd was an exceptional craftsman and these pieces are absolutely exceptional. The sofa, a perfectly scaled replica of a Salem, Massachusetts piece circa 1810 is made of masterfully hand-carved mahogany, complemented with a shaped crest rail which is highlighted with a maple inlay. The padded cream-colored raw silk upholstery is edged in brass trim and flanked by delicate, turned reeded arm supports and carved scrolled-shaped arms. The pair is as good as it gets for Salem furnishings, the icing on the cake are the fabulous reeded legs. The armchair features coordinating upholstery, reeded arms and legs, and accented crestrail. This amazing collection of treasured pieces will take some time to list, but they are worth the wait. The 1980s through the 1990s were one of the most interesting time periods in the miniature market, so many artists making their debut...this collection was curated during this time by going to shows, writing the artists and boarding planes to retrieve their long awaited treasures.
