The color is vibrant and the styling and carving is fantastic. Everything is in perfect, never displayed condition. This Retired Design features a hidden desk. The elegant details include three finials and scrolled bonnet, sliding tambour door revealing tiny storage compartments, working drawers, glass door inserts and gold plated hardware. Perfect piece to display your fine china and sterling. Sobol pieces are highly sought after and rarely come to the secondary market. A new similar edition sells for over $3,000 and do not have the built-in round felt lined ink holders. As always, Ferd was an exceptional craftsman and this cabinet is nothing less than exceptional. Artisan Miniature Dollhouse Ferd Sobol 1994 Silk Sheraton Neoclassical Sofa & ChairSome of the best dollhouse miniature pieces of furniture have been made with authentic materials like hardwood, tiny detailed grain, brass hardware and luxurious fabrics, scaled to perfection. This outstandingly hard-to-find Sheraton style sofa and matching chair are perfect examples of just that. They are both signed by the late IGMA artisan Ferd Sobol. Everything is in perfect, never displayed condition, making them especially rare. Sobol pieces are highly sought after and rarely come to the secondary market. As always, Ferd was an exceptional craftsman and these pieces are absolutely exceptional. The sofa, a perfectly scaled replica of a Salem, Massachusetts piece circa 1810 is made of masterfully hand-carved mahogany, complemented with a shaped crest rail which is highlighted with a maple inlay. The padded cream-colored raw silk upholstery is edged in brass trim and flanked by delicate, turned reeded arm supports and carved scrolled-shaped arms. The pair is as good as it gets for Salem furnishings, the icing on the cake are the fabulous reeded legs. The armchair features coordinating upholstery, reeded arms and legs, and accented crestrail. It is in excellent condition, as it has never been displayed and it comes along with its custom made travel box to ensure its safe arrival. The original price was $1200, and it is still proudly highlighted in his best works on his webpage and in his published book of miniatures. I have included a promotional page from the 1990s, showcasing this beauty. This china cabinet is beautifully appointed with hand carved hinged door panels dressed with fabulous golden hardware; a Chippendale inspired open curved and scrolled filigreed bonnet; embellished with Greek Key motif and hand carved cabriole legs with knee acanthus; and crowned with Ferd's famous draped finial coronet, echoed by two side urn finials. This collection had the most unique little grouping of artisan furniture made by the late, Mr. Sobol. Artisan dollhouse miniature upholstered chair by Ferd Sobol in 1/12 scale made of hardwoods and upholstered in a cream fabric, which, unfortunately has some light staining as shown in the photographs. Otherwise, this is a perfectly perfect chair with carved curved legs and detailed carved back in a light brown wood stain. This piece is used in from an estate collection,and as described above has some staining on the upholstery Welcome to the final portion of my latest estate sale filled with Minspirational Miniatures from the estate of Mrs. Zoe Breiner, an East Coast collector who spent many years traveling around the country and curating an assortment of wonderful small-scale treasures. Perfect for a grand display in your miniature dining room, this is a fabulous regency style drop leaf table. It features gorgeous hand carved woodwork including two pedestal bases with splayed legs terminating in hand cast brass toe caps. The top features a captivating sand charred floral marquetry inlay. Ferd's inlays are one of his 'special little extras' to delight his collectors, due to the fact that each piece is individually charred by hand by dipping it into hot sand before cutting. The leaf insert does have two tiny chips on the very edge (see photos), they would be easy to fix with stain or even a watercolor paints to blend the same color, the chips are very tiny.*This listing includes the drop leaf table, as described only. As a matter of fact it was not removed from the box until today when I photographed, inside was the original receipt, a letter from the late Ferd and information on other pieces that would match as well as care instructions. Ferd built the most wonderful little boxes to ship his larger pieces that was sure to guarantee a perfect delivery.
